Authorities reported that a 15-year-old girl fatally shot a teacher and a teenage student at a private Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin on Monday, injuring six others in the process.
The shooter, identified as Natalie Rupnow, opened fire in a study hall at Abundant Life Christian School, where Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes revealed that Rupnow died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the way to the hospital.
Police are currently communicating with Rupnow’s family and searching her residence for more information. Barnes stated that more details about the shooter were being withheld out of respect for the family.
Barnes mentioned that Rupnow’s father also experienced loss and emphasized the need for thorough investigation to gather all necessary information.

Responding officers arrived at the scene shortly before 11 a.m. after a second-grade student called 911 to report the shooting.
Barnes confirmed that Rupnow used a handgun but stated that a motive for the attack had not yet been determined.
“I don’t know why, and I feel like if we did know why, we could stop these things from happening,” he expressed to reporters.
The names of the teacher and student who lost their lives in the incident have not been disclosed.
Out of the six wounded, two students are in critical condition, while a teacher and three students sustained less severe injuries, with two of them already released from the hospital.
