26-Year-Old Arrested for Arson Following Fire at Emporia Business


EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) – One person was arrested in connection with arson after fire this past week at an Emporia business was determined to be intentionally set, officials announced Tuesday morning.

The blaze was reported at 11:59 p.m. Friday at a business at 10 W. 11th Ave. The address was the location of the 10 West Grill +Dive Bar.

When Emporia Fire Department crews arrived on the scene, officials said, they found evidence of a small fire inside of the business that had been extinguished by staff members.

The Emporia Fire Department along with the Emporia Police Department investigated the blaze.

As a result of the investigation, Uriel Pecina Sevilla, 26, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated arson.

Formal charges are pending, officials said Tuesday morning.
