Discover the Soldier Ridge Trail: A Historical Journey – Sheridan Media


The Sheridan Community Land Trust has announced that its SCLT Explore History program for July will be a “History on the Soldier Ridge Trail – A Walking Tour.”

Follow in the footsteps, hoofprints, and stagecoach tracks of history while enjoying the fresh air and fun outside on Soldier Ridge Trail.

This tour features seven stories taken from local history that have occurred on or near the trail. It features stories of Plains Indian Tribes, early European settlement, conflict along the Bozeman Trail, and development and agriculture in the Goose Valley.

The trail is about 2 miles total, with gentle to moderate inclines. Please bring water and dress for the weather.

There will be two dates for this Explore History program, one

Tuesday, July 8, beginning at 10 a.m., and the second one on Tuesday, July 15, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Attendees are asked to meet at the Soldier Ridge Trailhead on the edge of Sheridan, out Fifth Street.

SCLT Explore History is free to attend and open to all.
