Empowering Future Leaders: Liam Clark ’23 and Young Business Alumni

The Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business empowers students to evolve into innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders thriving in the dynamic global marketplace of ideas. This young alumni series highlights recent business graduates who are putting their Clemson education to work in bold, meaningful ways. From their first day on campus to their first big career move, these Tigers are showing the world how Clemson Powers Business.

An easy decision

When he first stepped onto Clemson’s campus, something clicked. “It checked all the boxes,” he says. “Academic standard, social climate, and the ability to prepare me for my career. Clemson had everything I was looking for.”

He declared a major in financial management with a minor in accounting through the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business. “The discipline I had to apply to my Clemson coursework really prepared me for the professional setting,” he said. “Now, I find myself taking notes in meetings, building out checklists to stay focused, and speaking up when I need clarity. These are all skills I developed at Clemson.”

Making the most of campus life

Outside the classroom, he threw himself into the full Clemson Experience. He joined Pi Kappa Alpha and helped the organization move from a colony to a fully chartered chapter during his time on campus. “It was incredible to contribute my own efforts as well as to witness the hard work of others from recruitment to philanthropy that went into taking that step,” he says.

He also returned to a sport he loved: ice hockey. Because of a chance conversation at Tiger Prowl, Clemson’s student organization fair he met the president and coach of the Club Ice Hockey team, who encouraged him to try out. He started on the practice squad, but by the end of his first year, he was dressing for every game.

“Being part of the hockey team gave me the chance to travel, compete and work with a group toward a shared goal,” he said. “It also taught me time management in a real way. Juggling road trips and academics wasn’t always easy, but it pushed me to grow.

Life after Clemson

After graduating in May 2023, he accepted a position at Kedrion Biopharma Inc., a global pharmaceutical company with offices in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Since then, he’s gained a lot of experience and has held three different roles, and today he serves as an Accountant and Junior Tax associate. His favorite part of his job is connecting with people from all over the country while maintaining Kedrion’s tax compliance.

Even though he has returned to New Jersey, he still loves being a Clemson Tiger. “It’s all about the community of students, alumni and staff around you. I met some of my best friends in my time at Clemson, and could always feel the support of Clemson’s alumni base, whether it was through support of organizations I was a part of or in my job search post-grad,” he explains. “It’s always something I’ll be thankful for.”
