Long-time HGTV stars Jonathan and Drew Scott have gotten some criticism for their new series, Chasing the West, which will premiere on July 10.
According to Drew & Jonathan magazine, the series focuses on the pair taking on projects for families who are interested in living in the rural areas of the West, specifically Arizona, California, and Texas. TV Insider reported that some fans aren’t happy about Jonathan and Drew’s latest show due to the recent cancellations of the HGTV series, Bargain Block, Farmhouse Fixer, Izzy Does It, and Married to Real Estate.
One Reddit user voiced their distaste for the upcoming series on the HGTV subreddit on June 27. They referenced that the Scotts, known as the Property Brothers, have had quite a few HGTV series, like Celebrity IOU, Don’t Hate Your House, and Property Brothers.
“The over exposed Property Brothers have a new show. Just what we need another Property Brothers Show… Can they just go away,” wrote the commenter.
Several Reddit users took to the comments section of the thread to voice their opinions.
“Oh, FFS. Shows we don’t want for $100, Alex,” wrote a commenter.
“So bored with them,” added another.
“Canceling 3 great shows while adding more Scott brothers shows is frankly disappointing. Same thing on Food Network. I’ve seen enough of Guy Fieri and Bobby Flay. I’ve canceled cable and only use apps and Discovery+ is going up in July. Might be time to cancel that too,” wrote a different person.
“Ugh. They cut quality shows then shove this down our throats. I am out,” commented a HGTV fan.
“I like them but won’t be watching HGTV anymore after they cancelled my favorite show Bargain Block which is actually helping bring back housing in Detroit!” chimed in a fifth person.
Drew and Jonathan spoke about their upcoming series while speaking to Drew & Jonathan magazine in June 2025. The brothers explained they were interested in the premise of the new show because they spent some of their childhood on a ranch.
“We grew up on a ranch in some of the most beautiful country around, and now we’re helping a new generation of people achieve that dream,” said Drew.
Jonathan added, “The lessons we’ve learned and our passion for the ways of the West made us who we are, and we wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
