The following article is a translation of a press release, which was kindly made available to our editorial team.

Budapest, 2 July 2025—Rubicon Historical Magazine has entered a new era with the launch of its official English-language website, providing free content on Hungarian history to readers worldwide.

The new website aims to bring Hungarian history closer to an international audience, with a strong emphasis on historical accuracy, nuanced perspectives, and a narrative free from political influence. The initiative is unique in its kind: Rubicon’s English-language site is not merely a translation of the Hungarian content, but a carefully curated collection tailored for global readers, offering deeper context to the events of Hungary’s past.

‘For over three decades, we’ve been working to present the defining moments of Hungarian history in a way that is both accessible and academically sound. Now, we’re making that knowledge and experience available to an international audience as well,’ Managing Director of Rubicon Ákos Radványi emphasized regarding the initiative.

‘All content is written by historians with the scholarly rigour that Rubicon is known for’

The website rubicon.hu/en features regularly updated English-language articles that highlight the most important events, figures, and turning points in Hungarian history. This new resource is especially valuable for researchers, students, readers with Hungarian roots, and anyone seeking a nuanced understanding of Central European history. All content is written by historians with the scholarly rigour that Rubicon is known for.

Rubicon Institute

The Rubicon Institute studies Hungarian history from a professional perspective—with a special focus on the 19th and 20th centuries—providing an objective view of historical events, figures, and developments. Drawing lessons from the past, the Institute also offers insights and recommendations for the present.

It closely follows international historical research on Hungarian history, thereby placing domestic scholarly dialogue within a broader context. At the same time, it promotes the Hungarian perspective on both national and world history to international audiences.

Its close collaboration with the over 30-year-old Rubicon Historical Magazine greatly supports the Institute’s goals, providing a foundation of unparalleled expertise and professional networks for its research activities.
