Where Creativity Sparks Success — ‘cene Magazine

What makes this residency truly stand out is the professional development it offers. From a dedicated private studio space to a wealth of creative facilities, it provides the time, tools and space many emerging artists simply can’t afford early in their careers.

“For artists fresh out of university, establishing a sustainable practice can be daunting,” says Programme Director Jacob Weeks.

“This residency provides a real lifeline – not just studio space, but also access to a photographic darkroom, fully equipped lighting studio, printmaking press and an iMac suite with the full Adobe Creative Cloud.”

Residents will also benefit from a materials allowance and perhaps most exciting of all, the opportunity to exhibit their work at the college’s partner galleries. Jacob added: “It’s a rare chance to grow artistically and professionally in equal measure.

“This is far more than a studio-based role. The artist-in-residence will play an integral part in the life of the college, planning and delivering two student workshops per term, contributing to lessons and tutorials, and collaborating with staff and students alike.

“They will also help shape key events, including the college’s highly anticipated end-of-year exhibition.

“By sharing your journey and creative process, you’ll not only inspire students but also become part of a supportive space where learning goes both ways.

“This isn’t just about teaching. It’s about discovery, exchange and growing as part of a creative community.”
