Joey McGuire recaps Texas Tech football win at Oklahoma State
The Texas Tech football team used big performances by Tahj Brooks and Behren Morton to win a wild Big 12 game at Oklahoma State
Joey McGuire told the Avalanche-Journal earlier this summer he hoped to land one running back for Texas Tech football’s 2026 recruiting class. He can now cross that off the list.
The Red Raiders received a commitment from Ashton “Ace” Rowden out of New Boston on Thursday via social media. Rowden is the 17th member of Tech’s recruiting class to commit and the second four-star recruit to commit in as many days, joining Frisco Panther Creek safety Donovan Webb, who committed Wednesday.
Rowden is a composite four-star prospect at 247Sports, ranked as the No. 18 running back in the 2026 recruiting class. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, Rowden chose the Red Raiders over the likes of Houston and Minnesota and held offers from TCU and Arkansas, among others.
Rowden ran for 1,700 yards and 22 touchdowns during his junior season of 2024. This includes a 281-yard, three-touchdown performance in New Boston’s 41-33 win over Hooks.
New Boston is located about 30 miles west of Texarkana.
