From August 14–18, 2025, the lush, weathered grounds of Bali Festival Park in Sanur will once again transform into an immersive world of design discovery as Jia CURATED returns with a bigger, bolder edition. What began as a modest platform for showcasing Indonesian craft has now evolved into a 10,000 sqm experiential exhibition, nearly doubling in size since its 2024 edition which welcomed over 6,000 visitors and 100+ brands. This year’s theme, “Evolving Perspectives“, sets the tone for a dynamic programme that challenges how we view creativity, collaboration, and sustainability in design.

Jia CURATED is a collaborative ecosystem where designers, makers, artists, and thought leaders come together to share ideas, processes, and purpose. This year’s edition continues to blur the lines between trade fair, cultural gathering, and design laboratory. As co-founder Budiman Ong explains: “We encourage collaboration between manufacturers, creatives, makers and consumer brands who come together to experiment and present bespoke installations… Our goal is to establish Indonesia on the map of global creativity.”

What to expect at Jia CURATED 2025
The event promises not just scale, but substance—a festival rich in voices, materials, and perspectives that reflect the evolving landscape of design across Asia and beyond.
A returning highlight is the 360° Design Dialogues, thoughtfully curated once again by Design Anthology. This year, the talks programme takes a significant step forward in inclusivity, welcoming a more diverse and gender-balanced roster of speakers from around the world. It’s a timely evolution, aiming to widen the lens through which we discuss design’s role in society.

Among the standout additions to the programme is “Architecture in Scale”, a compelling new exhibition curated by Suzy Annetta. This showcase presents intricate architectural models from some of Indonesia’s most innovative practices—not just as static representations, but as narrative tools that illustrate the creative journey, highlighting the hurdles and breakthroughs that shape the built environment.
Scattered throughout the park, the Art Trail introduces tactile, place-specific installations in collaboration with Gaya Ceramics, Malka Metalworks, and Metta Setiandi. These works aren’t just decorative—they’re sensorial and site-aware, weaving material experimentation with the soul of the location.

Equally rooted in community is the striking “Garuda” installation, envisioned by Japanese creative duo Straft—Tamaki Ishii and Kazuma Yamagami. Created from organic, locally sourced materials and developed with the participation of the Banjar, Bali’s local governance community, the piece symbolizes the very essence of cross-cultural and grassroots collaboration.
The festival also amplifies its sustainability ethos through Waste to Wonder, a platform where design meets environmental stewardship. Indonesian collective Millimeter Manifesto teams up with renowned architect Andra Matin to reimagine waste as resource—crafting functional public furniture and even a bookshop from salvaged materials. It’s design with purpose, low-tech ingenuity with high social impact.

Each year, Jia CURATED invites a guest country to take center stage. In 2025, that honour goes to Taiwan, with a curated showcase led by ShiKai Tseng of Studio Shikai. The exhibit highlights the country’s most compelling voices in contemporary design, known for their innovative blend of material intelligence and conceptual clarity.
Of course, the core of the event remains its broad and vibrant exhibitor base. This year brings together nearly 150 brands, balancing local excellence with international flair. Visitors can expect to encounter acclaimed Indonesian studios such as alvinT and Ong Cen Kuang, alongside global names like Jin Kuramoto from Japan, Pietro Franceschini from Italy, and Citizen of Nowhere from Thailand.

And the depth goes further—Superset Design Studio, Sungai Design, Gaya Ceramics, Super Rattan, Deya, and many more will contribute to an expansive visual and material vocabulary that stretches across disciplines, from furniture to lighting, textiles to sculpture.
Why Bali? Why Now?
With its potent blend of tradition and global appeal, Bali offers a unique creative atmosphere where East meets West. It’s not only a destination for inspiration, but also a manufacturing hub trusted by global design brands. Jia CURATED harnesses this energy to create something truly immersive—where exhibitions coexist with music, food, and social connection. Jia CURATED’s venue—an abandoned theme park reclaimed by nature—serves as both metaphor and material for the event: design that grows through collaboration, adapts to its surroundings, and invites exploration.
