Given all the information you’ve heard about AI, it’s not surprising that Google, among others, is starting to use sound signals to predict early signs of disease.
How? Bloomberg reports that Google trained its foundational AI model with 300 million audio samples, including coughs, sniffles, and labored breathing, to detect conditions like tuberculosis.
Now, Google has partnered with an Indian company – Salcit Technologies, a respiratory healthcare AI startup – to integrate this technology into smartphones, potentially benefiting high-risk populations in regions with limited healthcare access.
This isn’t Google’s first attempt to digitize human senses. Their venture arm has also supported a startup using AI to detect diseases through sense of smell.
