Authorities investigating the disappearance of a California couple from a nudist resort have discovered human remains beneath the home of a neighbor who is being charged with their murders.
The Redlands Police Department revealed that on Friday, they were able to access the area under the home where murder suspect Michael Sparks was located at the Olive Dell Ranch in Colton and began removing bags of potential evidence from the space. Stephanie and Daniel Menard were last seen on Saturday, Aug. 24.
Coroners officials confirmed that the evidence included human remains, and after the removal process started, the space showed signs of potential collapse, prompting the removal of all personnel.
The human remains are currently undergoing examination by the local coroner’s office.
City of Redlands spokesperson Carl Baker informed the press that investigators believe the Menards are deceased and still on Sparks’ property. Baker also revealed that Sparks was found hiding under his home Thursday night after ignoring police for several hours.
Authorities stated that the Menards were reported missing by a friend on Sunday and were last seen at their home at the resort on Saturday.

The Redlands Police Department reported that the Menards’ unlocked vehicle was found down the road from their residence on the same day. Stephanie Menard’s purse and the couple’s cell phones were located inside their home, with their dog, a small white Shih Tzu named Cuddles, also missing.
Sparks has been formally charged with murder, although the motive behind the alleged killings remains unclear.
The Olive Dell Ranch, described as “Southern California’s favorite nudist resort for families and couples,” is where the incident took place.
