Port Vale’s Irish striker Ruari Paton became the first opposition player to score at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson stadium.
The Toffees are moving to the new stadium for the 2025-26 and are currently playing a number of friendly games at their new ground.
Valiants forward Paton found the net in a 2-1 behind closed doors friendly against the Premier League side which was played on Tuesday. It was his first goal for the club since returning from a loan spell at Dundee United.
The Vale lost the game 2-1 with the home side scoring through Charly Alcaraz and Joe Garner.
Darren Moore’s side have had mixed friendly results so far – thrashing Kidsgrove 7-0 and Bath City 5-1 but only drawing 0-0 with Newcastle Town and losing 3-1 to Notts County. The Valiants are next in action on Saturday when they take on Championship outfit Birmingham City.
