Ohio woman’s viral videos of buried rug sparks search for potential remains.

An Ohio woman took to her TikTok account to share videos expressing her concern that a body might be buried in her yard, leading to a police investigation of her property.

Katie Santry initially posted a video early in the week showing her and her family digging up a rug buried in their yard in Columbus. Subsequent videos provided updates, including her decision to call the police.

The videos gained millions of views, with many speculating on why a rug was buried in her yard. Columbus Police conducted an investigation later in the week but did not find a body, as reported by Fox 59.

Santry described the situation in a TikTok video as “the most absurd, insane experience of my life.”

The investigation involved K-9 units and excavation, concluding on Friday afternoon with police collecting pieces of the buried rug. They confirmed that the pieces tested negative for human or animal remains and no further testing was planned.

An officer explained that burying items instead of moving them is a common practice during the construction of homes to save effort. K-9 alerts may not always be accurate, but police have to dig to confirm suspicions when alerted.

The officer added that it’s possible the dogs picked up on something as minor as an old nosebleed from years ago. Santry documented her initial call to the police in multiple videos, noting that police initially did not plan further investigation.

“The whole world was urging me to call the police,” Santry said. “When I asked the police to come and look at a rug, I felt crazy.”

In a video shared on Thursday, Santry revealed that homicide detectives informed her of sending investigators with cadaver dogs. She later stated that both dogs indicated a spot at the hole during separate attempts.
