A man in Greece received a suspended one-month prison sentence after being convicted of disturbing his neighbors by repeatedly sneaking onto their properties and smelling their shoes.
During his court appearance in Thessaloniki, Greece, the 28-year-old man stated that he couldn’t explain why he entered his neighbors’ homes to smell their shoes and expressed embarrassment for his actions.
He mentioned that he had no intention of violating the law or causing harm to anyone, as per the Associated Press.

The man’s neighbors testified that he didn’t show any signs of aggression when visiting them at night.
The judge mandated that the man attend therapy sessions.

The man was arrested in Sindos at dawn on Oct. 8 after being found by a neighbor sniffing their family’s shoes left outside.
Despite warnings from neighbors, at least three similar incidents occurred in the last six months.
