Meta’s social network, Threads, has reached a milestone of 275 million monthly active users (MAUs), as announced by the company on Sunday.
“Yesterday we crossed 275M monthly active users on Threads. A big thank you to everyone who’s helped us get this far. There’s a lot more to do, and plenty of things to fix, but there’s something exciting about this place,” said Adam Mosseri, the Meta executive who heads Threads and Instagram.
Threads was launched in July 2023 to attract users leaving X after Elon Musk’s acquisition of the platform. It has quickly grown to become one of the largest text-first social networks. The platform achieved 150 million MAUs in April and 200 million MAUs in August, accumulating an additional 75 million active users in just 3 months.
During Meta’s Q3 2024 post-results conference call last week, CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that a million people sign up to Threads every day.
Although Threads’ user base is expanding, the platform is encountering several moderation issues that are causing frustration among users.
