Witnesses in India discovered that a 25-year-old man who was thought to be dead and about to be cremated this week was actually still alive, reports say.
Rohitash Kumar, a 25-year-old man who was deaf and mute, was pronounced dead at a hospital in the state of Rajasthan without a post-mortem examination, according to The Times of India.
After it was realized that Kumar was alive during his cremation on Thursday, his family took him back to the hospital where he later passed away early Friday morning.
Three doctors who were involved in declaring Kumar dead at the Bhagwan Das Khetan district hospital have been suspended, as per the newspaper.
Kumar had experienced an epileptic seizure and was pronounced dead when he flatlined while doctors were performing CPR on him, as reported by the Daily Mail, citing the AFP news service.
