As Saturday night arrived, No. 7 Alabama was counting on a win over unranked Oklahoma to secure their position in the College Football Playoff bracket.
The day saw No. 5 Indiana suffer a blowout loss, No. 4 Penn State barely scrape by Minnesota, and both No. 9 Ole Miss and No. 14 BYU falter.
However, the Crimson Tide fell short as Oklahoma claimed a decisive 24-3 victory.

Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, usually a standout player, had a rough game, completing 11 of 26 passes for 164 yards with three interceptions and gaining only seven yards on 15 carries for Alabama (8-3, 4-3). The Sooners limited Alabama to 234 yards, with Milroe struggling with just 2-for-7 for 62 yards before halftime.
True freshman Xavier Robinson impressed with career highs of 107 yards and two touchdowns for Oklahoma, securing their bowl eligibility and easing coach Brent Venables’ hot seat.
The Sooners’ triumph led to fans rushing the field early, but the outcome was practically sealed, unlike the BYU-Arizona State game.

Both Ole Miss and Alabama, previously in the bracket prediction, now have three losses this season, opening up opportunities for 9-2 teams like Clemson and Iowa State, ranked 17th and 22nd respectively.
Indiana’s college football playoff chances, following their undefeated season end, may still have hope. No. 10 Georgia and No. 11 Tennessee are poised to move up with losses ahead of them in the rankings.
However, Alabama could potentially miss out on the playoff picture.
