Four deceased dolphins discovered on Petit Bois Island in Mississippi.

Four dolphins were found dead on a Mississippi beach over the weekend, as reported by the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies (IMMS).

These Pantropical Spotted Dolphins died after getting stranded on Petit Bois Island.

The presence of these dolphins in Mississippi waters is unusual, as they typically inhabit deeper waters.

The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies (IMMS) reported four dolphins were discovered stranded on the beach over the weekend. (The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies (IMMS))

The IMMS team quickly responded, taking photographs and tissue samples before transferring the animals for further analysis by the veterinary team at Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

The cause of death for the dolphins is currently under investigation.
