Ruud van Nistelrooy ‘Hurt’ by Manchester United Coaching Departure | Football News

United’s former interim head coach says he was disappointed to leave the club after Ruben Amorim’s arrival as the new permanent manager.

Former Manchester United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy expresses his disappointment at departing the club following Ruben Amorim’s appointment as the new full-time manager. Van Nistelrooy had enjoyed a successful spell as interim coach but understood Amorim’s desire to bring in his own assistants.

“I was disappointed and hurt by the decision to leave,” Van Nistelrooy shared with reporters on Monday. “However, I have a strong bond with the club and the fans, so it was tough to accept. But after a conversation with Amorim, I understood his vision, which helped me move forward and explore new opportunities.”

Van Nistelrooy, who was recently named Leicester City manager, went undefeated in his four games at United after taking over from Erik ten Hag. He had previously worked as an assistant to his fellow Dutchman.

The 48-year-old expressed his surprise at the managerial offers that came his way following his brief stint at United. “The response and interest after those four games were astonishing. It opened up new opportunities for me, and I am grateful for that,” he stated.

Van Nistelrooy, known for his prolific goal-scoring at United and Real Madrid, is determined to use his experience to guide Leicester City to safety in the Premier League. “I have faced challenges before in my career, and I am ready to fight for Leicester’s survival,” he added.

Leicester City will face West Ham United in their upcoming Premier League fixture.
