President-elect Donald Trump has been actively announcing his selections for his Cabinet and other key positions. Thursday saw a focus on nominees dedicated to bolstering border security and executing a large-scale deportation effort.
Among the picks were Rodney Scott as Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Caleb Vitello as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Tony Salisbury as Deputy Homeland Security Advisor (White House Homeland Security Council) in charge of homeland security and immigration matters.
RODNEY SCOTT
Scott, a former Border Patrol chief, was appointed as Chief in 2020 and removed by the Biden administration in 2021. He has been critical of the administration’s immigration policies, particularly on the southern border.
Before his chief role, he led the San Diego Sector and has spoken out against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his handling of border issues.
CALEB VITELLO
Vitello has extensive experience with White House National Security Council and ICE, serving as Director for Interior Enforcement and managing various enforcement programs within the agency.
TONY SALISBURY
Salisbury, currently the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) for ICE, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Miami, has a background in leadership roles within ICE/HIS and expertise in various law enforcement investigative programs.
Trump highlighted Salisbury’s successes in managing a wide range of investigative programs such as national security and smuggling violations during his career.
