Jaylen Brown received a fine for what the NBA deemed an “inappropriate gesture.”
After dunking on Wednesday, the Boston Celtics star made a motion with his thumb across his throat.
Brown threw down a powerful dunk on Isaiah Stewart of the Detroit Pistons, followed by the gesture directed at Stewart.

Following the 130-120 win against the Pistons, Brown mentioned in the media that he anticipated a response from the NBA for his actions.
Subsequently, he was fined $25,000 for the incident.
Spotrac reported this to be only the second fine in the NBA this season related to an “obscene gesture,” with Anthony Edwards previously fined $35,000 for a similar offense.

Similar incidents occurred last year with fines issued to players for gestures, notably Rudy Gobert who was fined $100,000 for insinuating referee bias.
Brown contributed 28 points and nine assists, while Kristaps Porzingis added 26 points and nine rebounds to secure the Celtics’ ninth win in 10 games.
Despite holding a comfortable lead, Detroit managed to close the gap in the final quarter, prompting Boston coach Joe Mazzulla to bring Brown back on the court.

In the final minute, the Pistons reduced the deficit to five with Tobias Harris’ three-pointer, but Payton Pritchard’s late three-pointer sealed the win.
