Georgia quarterback Carson Beck exits SEC championship game due to injury

Carson Beck sustained a hand injury and left the SEC title game on Saturday, according to Kirby Smart.

During the final seconds of the first half, Beck attempted a deep throw to put Georgia in the lead but was hit while throwing, resulting in a visible impact on his arm.

After receiving attention from trainers and coaches, Beck was slow to leave the field, and it was apparent that he was injured.

Speaking to ESPN at halftime, Smart initially indicated that Beck might be able to continue playing despite the injury, but later announced that Beck would not return for the second half. Gunner Stockton took over the quarterback position for Georgia.

Georgia struggled with Beck as the quarterback, managing only a field goal in the first half.

On the other hand, Texas led by Quinn Ewers, also struggled offensively, scoring two field goals and holding a 6-3 lead at halftime.

If Georgia loses, it will be the first time since the 2018 season that they have lost three games. Prior to this, their only loss was to Alabama this season, breaking a streak since 2020 when they lost to Ole Miss.

Beck is expected to be an early pick in the NFL Draft this April.
