Apple is seeking to enhance the appeal of its Vision Pro mixed reality device to gamers and game developers, as mentioned in a recent report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The Vision Pro has primarily been positioned as a tool for productivity and media consumption rather than catering to gamers, mainly because it relies on eye and hand controls instead of a dedicated controller.
However, Apple recognizes the potential of gamers in expanding the Vision Pro’s user base, especially considering the reported sales figure of less than half a million units so far. Consequently, the company has been in discussions with Sony to incorporate support for the PlayStation VR2’s hand controllers and has also been engaging with developers to gauge their interest in integrating these controllers into their games.
Enhanced control capabilities could not only benefit gaming but also enable the use of software like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Photoshop on the Vision Pro.
