James Kennedy has finally spoken out.
As readers probably know by now, the former Vanderpump Rules star was recently arrested on charges of domestic violence.
Reports indicate that Kennedy got into a dispute with an unidentified woman (thought to be girlfriend Ally Lewber) and ended up grabbing her arm during the argument.
Details are still limited, but it is believed that Kennedy was arrested at his home in Los Angeles.
Until December 17, we had only heard from Kennedy’s lawyers who recently said:
“We are currently investigating the allegations made by the Burbank Police Department against James.
We understand that there were no injuries and we hope that after a thorough review, the city’s attorneys will decide not to press formal charges.”
Yesterday on his Instagram Stories, Kennedy finally addressed the alleged incident and shared how he is coping at the moment.
“I am committed to making significant changes in my life,” the 32-year-old wrote. “I am taking the time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones.”
Kennedy expressed gratitude to his loved ones for their support, saying:
“Navigating difficult moments is challenging, but I am determined to learn, grow, and move forward with the incredible support system around me.”
According to police records obtained by People Magazine, a woman told the Burbank Police Department a few days ago that “her boyfriend lifted her up and threw her to the ground.”
It seems that Lewber has since moved out of the couple’s shared residence.
“Thank you to everyone who has shown me love and support and checked in on me,” Lewber shared on social media this past Sunday.
“I am doing okay and taking the time I need right now. I really appreciate all the kindness and respect for my privacy during this time.”
To clarify, neither Kennedy nor Lewber have confirmed any details regarding the speculation surrounding the incident that led to Kennedy’s arrest.
Kennedy joined Vanderpump Rules in 2015 while working as a busser at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant SUR.
Throughout the years, he has been known to clash with his co-stars due to his struggles with alcohol.
In 2020, Kennedy celebrated one year of sobriety after various attempts to quit drinking.
“Letting go of alcohol was the best decision I ever made and I’m holding on strong. I don’t miss the booze… I don’t miss the feeling… I’m so grateful for everything now and life has become more beautiful in many ways,” he wrote in an Instagram post in July of that year.
“Thank you to my rock @raquelleviss for helping me get here. I couldn’t have done this without you, my love. And thank you all for the support this past year.”
