Gaza Faces Starvation During This Festive Season: The Israel-Palestine Conflict

Winter has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere, bringing a festive atmosphere in many places. However, in Gaza, it has brought more suffering. The cold weather and rain have made life even more unbearable for the 1.9 million displaced Palestinians in Gaza.

Heavy rains have already caused flooding, damage, and destruction to the tents of the displaced, taking away what little they had.

As a result, many families are now even more destitute. The cost of a new tent in Gaza can be up to $1,000, while makeshift shelters and blankets are also unaffordable for the displaced.

Many of the displaced fled with only the clothes on their backs and have struggled to find adequate clothing as prices have skyrocketed. The lack of warm clothing and fuel for heating has increased the risk of illnesses, making life even more challenging.

The scarcity of supplies and the high prices of basic necessities have led to a famine in Gaza, affecting all residents. The cost of food has become exorbitant, with basic items like flour, lentils, and vegetables priced beyond reach.

Hunger and deprivation have forced people to rely on charity soup kitchens for sustenance, highlighting the desperate situation in Gaza.

The author describes the psychological impact of hunger and the feeling of abandonment by the world as they face loneliness, despair, and death in the midst of holiday preparations.
