Rivian has introduced a recent software update for its vehicles that includes some highly anticipated apps for its in-car system. Those who update their R1S SUV or R1T pickup truck can now access YouTube (while parked) and SiriusXM (with a subscription).
Additionally, the company is incorporating Google Cast functionality, which can also only be used while parked. Rivian mentions that this new feature will enable owners to cast over 3,000 streaming apps to the center console screen.
These new enhancements are expected to enhance the overall experience during lengthy charging sessions, an area Rivian is focusing on as it introduces new “third space” charging stations. The company is also dedicated to enhancing the on-road experience. The latest update, announced on Wednesday, allows owners of newer “Gen 2” Rivians to schedule their in-cabin climate and offers improved highway assist functionality.
