Kevin Owens affirms his plans to challenge WWE legend and Hall of Famer who has not been seen in over 5 years!

Kevin Owens is set to battle Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Prior to the event, Owens expressed his desire to go up against WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat, who has not been seen on WWE programming for 2,118 days.

Owens let loose at Bad Blood by attacking Cody Rhodes in the parking lot for teaming up with Roman Reigns. His frustration also led him to take out Randy Orton and issue a warning to Sami Zayn for aligning with Reigns at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024.

In an interview with Collider before the special show, KO was asked about facing legendary wrestlers at Saturday Night’s Main Event. His top pick was Ricky Steamboat, followed by Roddy Piper.

“Ricky Steamboat would have been pretty great. I think me, or anybody from this era, would have a fantastic match with him. ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper would’ve been incredible too. I wasn’t in a match with him, but he was the referee for one of my matches about 15 years ago, and just being around him for that little bit was pretty great,” Owens said.

Ricky Steamboat is revered as one of the greatest wrestlers in history, frequently appearing on Saturday Night’s Main Event in the 1980s. His last WWE TV appearance was on the February 25, 2019 episode of RAW during Ric Flair’s 70th birthday celebration, with his most recent match occurring on November 27, 2022 at BTW Return of the Dragon.

Kevin Owens shares his goals in WWE

During his decade-long tenure as a WWE Superstar, Kevin Owens has achieved a multitude of accolades, from world and mid-card titles to tag team championships. Despite his success, Owens remains driven to accomplish his goals within the company.

“I’d love to be world champion again. I’d love to main event WrestleMania Night Two since I’ve done Night One already. I’d love to have a match with Rey Mysterio. But if my career ends tomorrow, I’d still be happy with what I’ve done,” Owens told Collider.

If Owens defeats Cody Rhodes on Saturday, he has the opportunity to edge closer to two of his aspirations. He could capture the Undisputed WWE Championship and subsequently headline WrestleMania 41 Night Two as SmackDown’s top titleholder.
