Honda has announced the launch of the 6th generation of its iconic Prelude sports coupe in late 2025, following last year’s show-stopping concept version. The Prelude nameplate has been synonymous with driving enjoyment since its debut in 1978.
Timed with the celebration of 25 years in the hybrid vehicle industry, Honda will introduce a hybrid powertrain in the new Prelude. This anniversary coincides with the debut of the Honda Insight, the first hybrid available in North America, predating the Toyota Prius. The upcoming Prelude aims to enhance the joy of driving, aligning with Honda’s commitment to provide exhilarating products for customers.
The new Prelude is anticipated to be a two-motor hybrid model similar to the Civic and Accord hybrids, offering a performance level in the range of 204-217 hp. The estimated price range for this model is between US$31,000 and $38,000.
Despite recent production adjustments, Honda looks forward to the opportunities presented by the new Prelude and the Passport, aiming to regain momentum in the competitive automotive market.
The 6th generation Prelude will likely replace the discontinued Accord and Civic coupes in Honda’s lineup, offering a modern touch to the classic coupe market.
