Washington Sundar Teases Gabba Reference before BGT 2024-25 3rd Test: A Photo Journey

India all-rounder Washington Sundar shared a series of photos on social media from the Gabba in Brisbane before the third Test between India and Australia, starting on December 14. He posted some nostalgic pictures from the venue where India achieved a historic three-wicket victory during the 2020-21 tour, securing the series 2-1.

Sundar also introduced his pet dog named Gabba with a caption on his Instagram post:

“Gabba (bat ball emoji).”

Interestingly, Sundar had his Test debut in Brisbane, scoring 62 and 22 in his two innings. He had a remarkable 123-run partnership with Shardul Thakur in the first innings, contributing to India’s resurgence in the match. The off-spinner also took four wickets during the game.

“Washington Sundar can come in place of R Ashwin” – Cheteshwar Pujara picks his India playing XI change for Brisbane Test

Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara suggested Washington Sundar instead of Ravichandran Ashwin in his India playing XI for the Brisbane Test. Pujara emphasized the need to strengthen the batting lineup after India’s poor performance in Adelaide. In a recent interview with Star Sports, he mentioned:

“I feel only one change might happen. Since the batting wasn’t good, Washington Sundar can come in place of R Ashwin. Should someone come in place of Harshit Rana? In my opinion, no. You backed him and he performed well in the first match.”

Sundar scored 4 and 29 and took two wickets in the first Test in Perth, where India won by 295 runs. In his Test career, the 25-year-old has 24 wickets and 387 runs, including three half-centuries in seven matches.

Pujara supported Harshit Rana despite his wicketless performance in the second Test. He stated:

“He is a good bowler. You cannot drop him just because one match went bad. Probably the only change for me would be Sundar for Ashwin if the team feels the batting lineup needs strengthening.”

Harshit Rana ended with figures of 0/86 in 16 overs in the second Test.
