World leaders from around the world are offering their heartfelt condolences as the U.S. mourns the passing of former President Jimmy Carter at the age of 100 on Sunday.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel shared his sympathies following Carter’s death, expressing, “Condolences to the people and government of the United States, especially to the family and loved ones of President James Carter. Our people will remember with gratitude his efforts to improve relations, his visits to Cuba and his statement in favor of the freedom of the (Cuban) Five.”
In his single term as President, Carter facilitated the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, contributed to reducing nuclear proliferation with the second Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT), signed the Panama Canal Treaties, marking the end of direct American control over the canal, and deregulated the nation’s airline industry.

“We extend our sincere condolences to the American people and the family of former US President Jimmy Carter on his passing. He was a leader who served at a time when Ukraine was not yet independent, yet he stood firmly with us in our fight for freedom. We greatly value his unwavering commitment to Christian faith and democratic values, and his strong support for Ukraine against Russia’s aggression. He dedicated his life to global peace and human rights. Today, let us remember: peace is crucial, and the world must unite against those who threaten these values. May his memory be eternal,” stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Long-standing allies of the U.S., King Charles of the Royal Family, also expressed his condolences on social media.
“It was with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of former President Carter. He was a dedicated public servant, devoting his life to fostering peace and upholding human rights. His commitment and humility served as an inspiration to many, and I fondly recall his visit to the United Kingdom in 1977.
