The Scholastic competition, especially college sports, has become an integral part of our country. In times of division, athletic competitions unite Americans from all backgrounds. College athletics represent a patriotic tradition that I proudly dedicated 40 years of my career to before becoming a Senator.
Title IX has significantly contributed to this American tradition by providing opportunities for women to compete equally, receive scholarships, and learn essential values like work ethic and teamwork for the past 50 years. It has opened doors to educational and professional opportunities for millions of women across the nation.

In the last four years, the Biden administration has attempted to weaken Title IX protections for women in favor of radical gender ideology. Their actions threatened the existence of Title IX as we know it, jeopardizing women’s participation in athletics and educational opportunities.

My bill, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act (S. 9), aims to rectify the damage caused by the Biden administration. It seeks to protect female athletes from unfair competition and safeguard their privacy in locker rooms.

My legislation, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, upholds the principles of Title IX by recognizing gender based on biological and genetic factors at birth. It prohibits the participation of males in women’s sports under federally funded programs to protect the integrity of female athletics.
I experienced the positive impact of Title IX during my early coaching days and now, as a Senator, I am committed to preserving women’s rights to fair competition. I urge bipartisan support for this critical legislation to restore the essence of Title IX and strengthen the unity of our country.
