Payton Sandfort had an outstanding performance, scoring 21 of his 23 points in the second half for Iowa as they dominated Indiana with a final score of 85-60 on Saturday night.
Sandfort struggled in the first half, only managing a pair of free throws, but came alive in the second half, making 7 of 9 shots with four 3-pointers. Owen Freeman and Brock Harding also made significant contributions with double-doubles to secure the victory for the Hawkeyes (12-4, 3-2 Big Ten Conference).
In addition to Sandfort’s performance, Freeman had 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Harding added 10 points and 10 assists. Drew Thelwell and Josh Dix both contributed 12 points each for Iowa.
For Indiana, Myles Rice had 12 points and Oumar Ballo recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Despite their efforts, the Hoosiers (13-4, 4-2) saw their five-game win streak come to an end.
Freeman, Dix, and Harding led Iowa to a 43-33 halftime lead, shooting over 52% from the floor. Iowa’s solid first-half performance set the tone for the rest of the game.

Sandfort’s stellar performance continued in the second half, with back-to-back 3-pointers extending Iowa’s lead to 30 points. The Hawkeyes maintained their lead above 20 for the remainder of the game, securing a convincing victory.
Iowa will face Southern California next, while Indiana will host No. 13 Illinois in their upcoming games.
