Dolvett Quince, a personal trainer best known for appearing on Biggest Loser seasons 12 to 17, has been sharing his experience on social media as one of many Californians displaced from their homes due to spreading wildfires across Los Angeles County.
Quince first learned about the fires on social media and could see the smoke from his home just 2 miles from the Palisades.
“I stayed that night. It was very difficult to breathe in my home because of the ashes and smoke in the air. It affected me, my dogs, and we all decided to pack a bag just in case. The next day, we received an evacuation notice. There was a warning,” he said.

Quince initially underestimated the severity of the fires when he first saw the smoke, but upon returning to his home, he witnessed significant damage.
“There is a lot of debris from the trees on the roads. It looks pretty bad,” he said.
Despite the challenges, Quince remains hopeful, citing past disasters like Hurricane Katrina and the resilience of communities in bouncing back.
“I’m hopeful that California, with its resources and people, will come back stronger,” he expressed.

The community around Quince is already showing signs of resilience, with people helping each other and coming together in the face of adversity.
Quince expressed disappointment in the government’s preparedness despite the area’s history of wildfires and earthquakes.
“We need better preparation given the known risks. We pay too many taxes to receive limited care,” he stated.

“Firefighters should be paid more and better taken care of, especially in fire-prone states. Their hard work deserves better recognition and support,” he concluded.
