Liverpool forward Mo Salah being considered by Al Hilal as potential Neymar replacement in upcoming transfer deal | Football News

Al Hilal is prepared to offer Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah an enticing contract if he decides to leave Europe and play in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi champions are seeking a high-profile signing to replace Neymar.

Neymar’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Al Hilal can provide Salah with the opportunity to be one of the star players at the expanded Club World Cup in the USA in June and July.

Salah will become a free agent this summer and has been allowed to negotiate with foreign clubs since the beginning of this month.

Liverpool turned down a £150m bid for Salah from Al Ittihad in August 2023.

Turki Alalshikh, a prominent figure in Saudi sport and close to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, shared a photoshopped image of Salah in an Al Hilal shirt on Facebook.

Salah reacts on X to comments made by Jamie Carragher on Monday Night Football regarding the Liverpool forward’s contract situation – with the Sky Sports pundit also responding to the Egyptian

Alalshikh, the chair of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, has been instrumental in the country’s boxing investments and is associated with Al Hilal.

Despite turning 33 in June, Salah believes he is still in his prime and capable of playing at a high level in Europe.

‘Saudis will make Salah move happen if he wants it’

Sky Sports News’ chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol:

“When it comes to Salah and Saudi Arabia, it’s a case of once bitten, twice shy. The Saudis tried 18 months ago to sign Salah.

“Al Ittihad made a bid that was supposed to be worth up to £150m but that was rejected, and Salah chose to remain at Liverpool. Since then, they have been cautious about making another approach for Salah.

“The consistent message is that if Salah desires to move to Saudi Arabia, his representatives need to reach out, and the move will be facilitated. They would be thrilled to have Salah playing in the Saudi Pro League.

“Al Hilal, the reigning champions and the biggest club at the moment, have Neymar, whose contract expires at the end of the season. They are seeking a replacement. If Salah feels it’s time to depart Europe, they may consider a move.”

Salah earlier in January: It’s my last six months – there’s no progress

Speaking to Sky Sports after his standout performance in Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over West Ham on December 29, Salah mentioned that he was still far from reaching an agreement on a new contract with Liverpool – a sentiment he reiterated in an interview earlier this month.
