WWE veteran suggests Triple H is lacking creativity and should think about stepping down

Triple H has been in charge of WWE’s creative direction since taking over from Vince McMahon in July 2022. Vince Russo, the former head writer of WWE in the late 1990s, believes that The Game should think about stepping down.

Russo was responsible for crafting storylines during a period when RAW was achieving record-high ratings. In 1999, he left WWE to join WCW after McMahon suggested that he hire a nanny to care for his children.

In an interview on The Hannibal TV, Russo expressed doubts about Triple H’s writing abilities despite acknowledging his wrestling skills. He also voiced concerns about the length of RAW and SmackDown becoming three-hour shows:

“I watch these shows and all I see are the same angles repeated over and over again and stretched out to nausea,” Russo said. “That tells me Triple H is creatively bankrupt, so he either needs to step aside and get some people in there that understand writing and know how to write a television show and understand wrestling, or else, like I said, bro, six hours of the WWE, weekly, do you know how old and boring that is gonna get?” [35:07 – 35:49]

In the same interview, Russo also touched upon the current relationship between Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, and Vince McMahon.

Vince Russo’s Thoughts on Triple H’s Early 2025 Plans

WrestleMania 41 is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on April 19-20. Several big names like John Cena, Logan Paul, and The Rock are expected to make a return before then. Additionally, RAW is set to debut on Netflix on January 6.

With all the hype surrounding WWE at the moment, Vince Russo believes that Triple H will have numerous creative opportunities leading up to WrestleMania. However, he predicts that storyline issues may resurface post-WrestleMania:

“Yeah, bro, they’ll probably be able to ride the wave from now till WrestleMania,” Russo continued. “They got Cena in their pocket, they’ll probably bring The Rock back, Logan Paul’s making a comeback. They’ll pull every rabbit out of that hat. As soon as WrestleMania’s over, bro, and that tank is empty, good luck with six hours of TV every week.” [35:49 – 36:16]

Russo also provided his perspective on why he finds Roman Reigns’ Bloodline storyline to be “boring” and not as captivating as some fans believe.
