The upcoming Find N5 foldable phone from Oppo is incredibly thin, almost as thin as its own USB-C port when unfolded, as shown in photos released by the company. Expected to be rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 for its US launch, this flagship device will also offer top-notch water resistance.
Teasing of the Find N5 by Oppo has been ongoing on the Chinese social network Weibo. Zhou Yibao, the product manager for the Find series, has now shared images emphasizing its slim profile, mentioning that the thickness limitation is now primarily due to the charging port.
These images come after a video from the previous week, where Zhou compared a concealed Find N5 with various everyday items, demonstrating its comparable thickness to two Chinese yuan coins, a stack of four ID cards, or exactly 39 sticky notes.
Oppo claims that the Find N5 is the thinnest foldable device to date. Currently, the title is held by the Honor Magic V3 at 4.35mm thickness when unfolded, indicating that the Find N5 must be near 4mm. This explains why it appears about half the size of the 8.25mm iPhone 16 Pro Max shown alongside in the photos. For comparison, a USB-C port measures at least 2.6mm.
In another post, Zhou hinted at the phone’s water resistance, claiming an IPX9 rating. This means it currently lacks official dust protection (denoted by ‘X’) but has been tested to withstand powerful jets of high-temperature, high-pressure water. It also carries ratings of IPX8 for water submersion and IPX6 for lower-temperature water jets. The OnePlus 13 released this month is rated IP69, offering dust protection as well.
Previously, Oppo’s foldable lineup included the Find N3 (skipping N4 due to cultural reasons), which later launched in the Western market as the OnePlus Open. If history repeats, this device should present strong competition against Samsung and Google’s current foldable offerings. More details will emerge when the Find N5 debuts in China next month.
