Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

A tricky Wordle today! GRAIN wasn’t an ideal opener, leaving me with just one yellow box and 271 remaining solutions. ROUTE slashed that number to 18 and gave me two more yellow boxes. Unfortunately, FEMUR ended up being a lousy third guess, only cutting 8 of those words away, though at least I got the ‘R’ into green. SUPER cut away the remaining possible solutions, leaving me with just one: UPPER for the win!

Competitive Wordle Score

I lose a point for guessing in 5 but thankfully the Bot took as many tries as me today so just -1 in total. Lucky me!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “upper” originates from the Old English word “uferra”, which is the comparative form of “ufan”, meaning “above” or “over.” The root “ufan” is related to Proto-Germanic “ub-“ and Proto-Indo-European “upo-“, both of which carry the sense of “over,” “above,” or “higher.” Over time, “upper” evolved into its modern English usage, referring to something situated above or higher in position, status, or rank.
