Trump ceases legal dispute regarding Twitter ban

President Donald Trump’s legal battle against the company formerly known as Twitter seems to have concluded.

Trump had sued the social media platform for banning him following the events of January 6, 2021, when his supporters breached the U.S. Capitol. Despite a federal judge dismissing the lawsuit in 2022, Trump’s legal team continued to appeal the decision.

Shortly after the judge’s ruling, Elon Musk (a prominent Trump supporter) acquired Twitter (now X) and restored Trump’s account. Subsequently, Facebook and other platforms also reinstated Trump, although he primarily uses Truth Social, owned by Trump Media & Technology Group, for social media posts.

A court filing indicates that all parties have agreed to dismiss the case. The filing does not disclose the terms of the agreement between Trump and X, except that each party will cover their own expenses.

In January, Meta settled a similar lawsuit by paying $25 million regarding Trump’s suspension from Instagram and Facebook.
