Travis Kelce expressed his hope to continue playing football for the next three years during an interview in New Orleans earlier this week.
However, there are reports suggesting that Super Bowl LIX might mark the end of his illustrious career.
According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Super Bowl LIX could potentially be Kelce’s “final game,” and he is expected to evaluate his future post-Super Bowl and make a decision before the start of free agency on March 12.

Rapoport mentioned that the outcome of Sunday’s game could impact Kelce’s future.
If the Chiefs win, it would be a remarkable end to his Hall of Fame career by being part of a dynasty that secures three consecutive Super Bowl wins.
In NFL history for tight ends, Kelce ranks third in catches (1,004) and yards (12,151), and fifth in touchdowns (77). This is despite playing fewer games than 11 tight ends who surpass him in these categories. Notably, Tony Gonzalez, the leader in catches and yards, played 95 more games than Kelce.
While Kelce has shown up in the playoffs, it’s evident that he’s not performing at his All-Pro level anymore. This season saw him play in at least 16 games without hitting the 1,000-yard mark for the first time since 2015. Additionally, he only scored three touchdowns in the regular season, the lowest in his career outside of his debut season.

If Sunday marks the end, it will be the conclusion of an extraordinary career. Kelce has earned 10 Pro Bowl selections and First- or Second-team All-Pro honors on seven occasions.
Kelce’s fame off the field has surged, especially in his relationship with Taylor Swift, along with his success on the field. Even before that, he was becoming a well-known figure. He hosted “Saturday Night Live” after securing his second Super Bowl victory in March 2023. A win on Sunday would earn him his fourth ring.
