Stephen A. Smith would end marriage with Serena Williams over Super Bowl halftime performance appearance

Serena Williams unexpectedly appeared during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show, seen dancing during the performance of “Not Like Us.”

Appearing during that particular song sparked some discussion on social media, especially given Lamar’s track is a diss towards rapper Drake, who Williams dated in 2011. 

Many speculated that Williams’ timing with this track was intentional, and ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith agrees.

That’s why, during his Monday edition of “First Take,” he remarked to his colleagues that he would part ways with her if he were her spouse. 

“If I’m married and my wife is going to participate in trolling her ex, go back to him, as obviously you don’t belong with me,” Smith stated on the show, prompting some laughter from his peers.

“What are you worried about him for when you’re with me? Goodbye. Goodbye.”

Williams is married to Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, and they have two daughters together. 

Smith’s co-host Ryan Clark responded, “If you were with Serena Williams, you’re going to be taken care of anyways. Don’t start that.”

Lamar and Drake have a significant feud, with only one of them claiming Grammys for their diss tracks. 

“Not Like Us” won Song of the Year, which also secured Record of the Year, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video. 

It’s also worth mentioning that SZA joined Lamar during the performance, confirming her relationship with Drake after he rapped about it on the track “Mr. Right Now” with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin. 

Whether it’s intentional or not, Williams and Lamar share a bond through their upbringing in Compton, California.

Renowned actor Samuel L. Jackson also made an appearance as “Uncle Sam” during the performance, as Lamar transitioned between songs.
