Luke Bryan almost snagged Morgan Wallen’s hit song

Another country artist passed on one of Morgan Wallen’s hit songs before it became a success.

Luke Bryan revealed on Bobby Bones’ podcast “BobbyCast” that he turned down the tune “Sand in My Boots” due to it mentioning a Chevrolet, which he felt was overdone in his own music.

“I just went through two years of my life where I was like, ‘Man, I sing about trucks a lot, I sing about tailgates,'” he explained. “I got in my head a little bit because I think I had a lot of negativity, socially, on socials, that I was getting pegged as maybe a one-trick pony in that lane.”

The song’s chorus references a Chevrolet pickup truck.

“Sand in My Boots” eventually appeared on Wallen’s album “Dangerous: The Double Album” and became a hit for him.

Bryan also mentioned feeling overlooked and wanting to move on from a certain image he had built for himself in the industry.

“I got in my head a little bit because I think I had a lot of negativity, socially, on socials, that I was getting pegged as maybe a one-trick pony in that lane.”

Bryan reflected on his career and how he wants to be known for having fun with his music.

He first gained fame in 2007 with the hit “All My Friends Say” and has had continued success with songs like “Country Girl (Shake It for Me).”

Bryan also served as a judge on “American Idol” alongside Katy Perry and Lionel Richie until Perry left in 2024.

Perry’s departure was later followed by the announcement that Carrie Underwood would replace her on the show.

Underwood shared her approach to judging on “American Idol” and emphasized the importance of being both honest and kind.
