A 27-year-old man in Utah has been arrested for allegedly trying to run a Tesla off the road in a dangerous act of road rage that took place on a high-speed freeway.
Oscar Fayani was apprehended after Utah Highway Patrol troopers reported that he intentionally hit a Tesla at speeds exceeding 100 mph on Interstate 80, as per an affidavit obtained by KSL.com.
Troopers responded to multiple 911 calls about a gold sedan engaging in reckless behavior and road rage towards a black Tesla just after 10 a.m.
Witnesses described the sedan weaving through lanes, tailgating, blocking passing vehicles, and reaching speeds of up to 120 mph.

One driver mentioned having to accelerate to 95 mph to evade the sedan. The Tesla driver informed troopers that the sedan deliberately rammed his car and followed him off the freeway.

Upon re-entering I-80 a few minutes later, the Tesla driver claimed the sedan was waiting and once more attempted to force him off the road.
Troopers intercepted and stopped the suspect’s vehicle close to the Great Saltair. Fayani was driving with a revoked license and had two active out-of-area warrants, as per the affidavit.
A search of the car yielded drug paraphernalia, a marijuana roller, and two small baggies containing a white powder that tested positive for cocaine.

Fayani has been incarcerated at the Tooele County Jail and is facing multiple charges including aggravated assault, reckless driving, driving with a revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the two out-of-area warrants, with a total bond set at $910.

While it’s unclear if this incident targeted Tesla, it fits into a pattern of vandalism and hostility towards Tesla owners and Elon Musk’s company.
Tesla drivers have reported harassment or blockage at charging stations by gas-powered vehicles in incidents called “ICEing.” Incidents of vandalism including keying, window smashing, and tire slashing have been captured on cars’ Sentry Mode cameras.
Tesla dealerships in the U.S. have seen a rise in vandalism cases.
In March 2025, a Tesla dealership in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, was defaced with graffiti critical of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

In Loveland, Colorado, an individual was arrested for throwing Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership, spray-painting “Nazi cars” and derogatory remarks towards Elon Musk, causing around $220,000 in damages.
Various similar incidents have been reported across California, Texas, and New York, often involving politically-motivated graffiti and vandalism.
