Incoming 2026 Tesla Model S Triggers Hefty Price Cut On Outgoing Version

A new Tesla model almost always means an inventory fire sale on the older model. And that’s what’s happening to the Model S.

The Model S has been around longer than any Tesla vehicle save the original Roadster. The Model S debuted in June 2012, got an update in 2016 and another in 2021. Now that version is being phased out to make room for the 2026 model.

That means the previous Model S is getting the discount treatment. Price adjustments (discounts) range up to $7,620 for the Plaid Model S. Here are some highlights of the discounts on “new” 2025 Model S on Tesla’s inventory page.

Model S All-Wheel Drive: $76,590 after $5,900 discount. A demo vehicle with 1,673 miles. Range: 312 miles.

Model S All-Wheel Drive: $76,720 after $5,770 discount. Range: 410 miles.

Model S Plaid: $90,030 after $6,460 discount. A demo vehicle with 1,242 miles. Range: 410 miles.

Model S Plaid: $96,370 after $7,620 discount. Demo Vehicle with 111 miles. Range: 312 miles.

The new 2026 Model S, by comparison, starts at $84,990. The good news for those looking at the older version is that the new Model S is not a radical makeover. It’s a “facelift” which means mostly subtle changes and, for the average consumer, it’s hard to tell the difference cosmetically (though Tesla may claim otherwise). Differences are generally minor including updated wheels, a new paint option, and minor bumper tweaks.
