Powell’s Books expands popular warehouse sale with over 70,000 books

Powell’s Books, the largest independent new and used bookstore in the world, is set to host its second annual Warehouse Sale on July 12-13, 2025, at the Industrial Warehouse located at 2720 NW 29th Ave.

After attracting over 10,000 attendees last year, the event will double in size, offering more than 70,000 books across various genres, including Sci-Fi, Literature, Non-Fiction, Art, Romance, Young Adult, and Children’s books.

Most titles will be available at significantly reduced prices, ranging from $1 to $4.

The sale will feature an expanded shopping area, both indoors and outdoors, and will include food and drink vendors.

To enhance the shopping experience and minimize wait times, Powell’s is introducing a timed entry system. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to reserve a timed-entry slot for either Saturday or Sunday.

Pricing for the event will be as follows:

  • $1: Children’s’ books, including board books, picture books, early readers
  • $2: Most mass market
  • $3: Trade paperbacks
  • $4: Hardcovers
  • Additional deals on merch, gifts, and potential bag-fill specials

An exclusive community presale event will take place on Friday, July 11, from 6-9 p.m. This invite-only event is meant to offer loyal customers a chance to win passes by following Powell’s Books on social media and participating in giveaways, according to the bookstore.

Additional features of the sale include local DJs providing music, and fresh books will be restocked each day.

While limited parking is available, Powell’s recommends using public transit, biking, or walking to ease congestion.

“Powell’s is working with the Portland Bureau of Transportation to provide trip planning tips and satellite parking options to ease congestion near NW 29th & Industrial,” according to the event website.

The event is handicap accessible, but Powell’s gift cards and employee discounts will not be applicable at the sale.
