Former Stanley Ventures managing director has landed at Caterpillar to invest in mining and construction startups.

Mike Mahan has joined Caterpillar Ventures, the VC arm of construction equipment company Caterpillar, as investment director, following a nine-year stint at Stanley Ventures.
He announced on LinkedIn that his remit would include all things related to mining and construction.
It comes a couple of weeks after he announced his departure from Stanley Ventures, where he had been the last remaining team member after the unit was initially downsized in 2022 and president Dina Routhier left in April.
Caterpillar Ventures invested €5m ($6.7m) in UK-based electrification technology developer Equipmake in March this year. Its previous investments came in late 2023.
