Free sandwiches? 2 restaurants say ‘Happy Earth Day’

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio – Of the many ways to celebrate Earth Day this month, how’s this: Free sandwiches.

North Star Restaurant Group’s Northstar Café and Brassica are set to offer free, vegetarian sandwiches Tuesday, April 22.

The café, known for its casual cuisine and urban ambience, will be serving its signature Northstar Burger, a veggie burger made with organic black beans, brown rice and beets and topped with white cheddar, kale, tomato, pickle, onion and simple salad.

Brassica, the Mediterranean-inspired fast-casual restaurant, will offer its falafel made to order.

The company said in a press release the initiative represents the restaurants’ values – to “share joy and delicious food while making a positive impact on the world.” The sandwiches are billed as vegetarian-focused and environmentally friendly.

Each restaurant is in Van Aken District in Shaker Heights: Brassica is at 20301 Meade Road, and North Star Café is at 3380 Warrensville Center Road.

Also, Brassica has a location at 30070 Detroit Road, Westlake.

Earth Day is an annual worldwide celebration that promotes the preservation of the planet. It dates to 1970.
