AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio –
Lou’s Beer & Wine Cellar, a fixture in Austintown for 70 years, was auctioned off Thursday as its current owner retires after live bidding for the business begins at 1 p.m.
The auction, managed by Kiko Auctions, aimed to find a new owner to take over operations of the long-standing establishment on Route 46. The business sold for $935,000.
The business was auctioned off to Sean McFarland of Canfield. McFarland tells 21 News he wants to keep the business mostly the same, but possibly start selling lottery and tobacco products there as well.
According to the Kiko listing, the retiring owner will assist the new buyers for the first 30 days following the sale to ensure a smooth transition.
Lou’s Beer & Wine Cellar specializes in beer and wine sales. The auction listing indicates the business has potential for expansion into offerings such as tobacco products, lottery, and other convenience items.
The store holds a license to sell liquor Monday through Saturday, but it does not currently have a permit for Sunday wine sales.
Pre-bidding for the auction began Tuesday. Interested parties can register through the Kiko Auctions website
