Waynesboro gator gets a lift after parking itself in front of business

WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – An alligator parked itself outside a business Thursday morning in Waynesboro until game wardens found a better place for the beast.

The 7- to 8-foot alligator was in the parking lot outside Waynesboro Dialysis on South Liberty Street.

“Even though there was a language barrier, it was speculated that this guy (or gal) may have had an alligator dialysis treatment appointment and became lost somewhere in the swamp and ended up there,” the Waynesboro Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.

“After being informed through a series of hand gestures and animal noises that this dialysis facility was for humans only, the alligator was safely removed and relocated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources,” police wrote.

They said they couldn’t be sure why the gator picked that spot.

“It could have just been out for a leisurely morning stroll, or it may have been there trying to find breakfast,” police wrote. “Anyway, we’re pretty sure the patients and staff at Waynesboro Dialysis won’t miss it anytime soon.”
