The Minnesota Star Tribune was not able to reach an attorney for the businesses Thursday night.
Floyd was murdered by Minneapolis police outside Cup Foods, which is now known as Unity Foods. Five years later, the future of George Floyd Square is still unclear as residents, business owners, activists and city officials continue to disagree about its legacy. The city is expected to name a preferred developer of the area this summer.
