Schiff expressed his “serious concerns” about Biden’s ability to defeat Donald Trump in November and suggested that it might be time for Biden to let someone else take the lead.
Despite calls for him to step aside, President Biden, 81, has reaffirmed his commitment to finishing his term and continuing his work. He emphasized the importance of his role and the work that still needs to be done during a recent NATO summit in Washington, DC.
Biden’s reelection bid has faced criticism from within his own party, with many Democrats questioning his age and mental capacity to serve effectively. A recent poll showed that a majority of Democrats believe Biden should withdraw from the race and allow the party to choose a new candidate.
However, plans are underway for a virtual vote to confirm Biden as the Democratic nominee before the party’s national convention in August. Some House Democrats have raised concerns about the rushed nature of the virtual vote, warning that it could lead to division within the party.
